GREEN TARA

Tara "the liberator", "the savior" and "the star" is the main deity of

compassion in Mahayana and Vajrayana.

Grouped in the 10 Mahāvidyā, goddesses grouped under the name of Great

Wisdom in Hinduism, it gained importance in Indian Buddhism at

appears from the 6th century, then in Java, Cambodia and finally in Tibet from

from the 8th century and especially in the 11th century with the arrival of Atisa.

It was taken first of all for an emanation of Avalokitesvara (Guan Yin), the
