1- What is a Ghau?
The ghau or Gau or Gao is a kind of portable altar in which the image of the chosen deity of the owner is kept, wrapped in silk clothes. The vast majority of Tibetans use the ghau at home and carry it during their travels. They keep it on a real altar at home. When traveling, it is hung on the back belt. It serves as a protective symbol during travels and also allows its owner to prove his devotion to his deity.
2- How was the tangka of this artisanal Tibetan Ghau made?

A DZI is a traditional Tibetan prayer bead, protective talisman or amulet, made from a natural gemstone, such as agate, and decorated with sacred designs. It is considered lucky and protective in Tibetan and Buddhist culture. DZIs can have different shapes and designs, each with its specific symbolic meaning, such as protection from evil, good luck and prosperity.
