Mahakala, the great Dharmapala—fierce protector of the Dharma—is here represented in a meticulous sculpture crafted by an expert master from natural antler, a noble and living material sourced from the natural shedding of antlers in spring.
Around this Mahakala Pendant, I chose to assemble natural nephrite jade beads from Qinghai province and buffalo horn beads, two materials deeply rooted in Asian spiritual traditions. Jade has been associated with wisdom, balance, and protection for millennia, while buffalo horn symbolizes strength, stability, and grounding in the material world.
