Sandalwood Pixiu Pendant - Guardian Lion - Rare

This pixiu pendant was entirely hand-carved by a master wood carver from Australian sandalwood .
Santalum spicatum, commonly known as "Australian sandalwood" is a tree native to the semi-arid regions of southern and western Australia. It is used for its wood and especially for its oils used in medicine and in food.

18K gold plating.

PIXIU:

Pixiu is a mythical creature in Chinese mythology, often described as a lion-like chimera with wings.
Known for its insatiable appetite for gold and silver, the Pixiu is considered a symbol of wealth , protection and good fortune .

In Chinese culture, it is believed to attract wealth and protect its owner from negative influences.

The Pixiu is often depicted in Chinese art, sculptures, and jewelry, and is often placed in homes and businesses to bring prosperity and financial security.

This mythical creature, also known as Pi Xiu or Pi Yao, is often depicted with a single horn, symbolizing its noble lineage and fierce nature as a celestial guardian.

Legend has it that Pixiu was punished by the Jade Emperor for disobeying the laws of heaven, condemned to live only on gold and silver without being able to excrete any, symbolizing his insatiable appetite for wealth.

GUARDIAN LION:

Also known as the "foo lion" or "shi", it is an important figure in Chinese culture. Believed to protect the building and its inhabitants from harmful influences and bring good fortune, the guardian lion symbolizes the release of bad energies outside, and the protection of good energies inside.

On the back is a Buddhist wheel, representing the mantra of compassion "om mani padme hum", this wheel is rotating, and is made of 925 silver as well as a natural turquoise from the Hubei province.
