Tara
Her name can be translated as "she who saves" Emanation of Avalokiteshvara,
it was born from the bodhisattva's tears. Its mission is to assist him in
his action. She embodies the feminine aspect of compassion and represents a
very popular deity in Tibetan Buddhism. The cult of Tara
spread in the 11th century, mainly under the influence of Atisha. Since this
time, Tara is one of the most used Yidam.

There are 21 different forms of Tara which differ from the point of view
iconographic by color, body posture and attributes. They
can manifest as peaceful or wrathful representations. THE
the most common forms are:

• Green Tara (Shyamatara) known as the Buddha of enlightened activity

• White Tara (Vajradhatvisvari) also known for her compassion, her long
life, healing and serenity; Also known as the wheel that
fulfills wishes, or Cintachakra

• Yellow Tara, associated with wealth and prosperity

The two wives of King Songtsen Gampo of Tibet (7th century) are considered
like the incarnations of these two Tara

Tara is one of the most popular deities of Tibetan Buddhism. Her name
means both "She who delivers" and "star". Considered a
emanation of the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, she was born from a beautiful lotus which
floated in one of her tears to help her.

The first representations of the goddess date from the 6th century AD,
era in which Tara was considered the Shakti or consort
of Avalokitesvara. In Tibet, where his cult spread in the tenth century, it was said that
the goddess was reincarnated in every virtuous woman. Since then she has been
widely worshiped as a personalized deity. Tara shows up under 21
different shapes, each with a color, position and attributes
distinct, and each represented either calm or wrathful.
The most common forms are Green Tara and White Tara.
