buddha eyes- Swayambhunath

Buddha's eyes are a symbol of knowledge, omnipotence and heavenly presence, far from the concept of the judgmental gaze.
The magic that emerges from this look is that it expresses no feeling, neither joy nor sadness.
Through this perception, nothing can be concealed from Buddha.
Moreover, this omnipresence indicates the involvement of the holder of supreme wisdom in everyone's daily life.

The eyes of Buddha, also known as "Swayambhunath" in Nepal, are an iconic motif in Buddhist art and are often associated with the Swayambhunath Stupa, which is an important religious site located in the Kathmandu Valley, Nepal. Here is the meaning and symbolism associated with the eyes of Buddha:

  1. Wisdom : Buddha's eyes symbolize wisdom and enlightenment. They are said to represent Buddha's ability to see and understand the world with great clarity and deep understanding.

  2. Compassion : Buddha's eyes are often depicted with a gentle smile, reflecting Buddha's compassion and kindness toward all living beings. This smile is sometimes called the "Buddha's smile."

  3. Consciousness : Buddha's eyes are often surrounded by an oval shape, which represents the flame of consciousness. This flame symbolizes spiritual awakening and awareness of the ultimate truth.

  4. Protection : Buddha's eyes also serve as guardians and protectors. In many Buddhist cultures, they are held up as protective talismans or amulets, believed to ward off negative energies and bring safety to those who wear or manifest them.

  5. Omniscience : Buddha's eyes are sometimes described as being omnipresent, meaning that they are able to see and understand all things, everywhere. This idea reinforces the concept of deep and total understanding associated with Buddha.

6. Universal Representation : In addition to their spiritual significance, Buddha's eyes embody the universality of Buddha's teaching, which is intended for all living beings, regardless of their origin, culture or religion. They are thus a symbol of unity and peace.

Buddha's eyes are a symbol rich in meaning, representing wisdom, compassion, awareness, protection, omniscience and the universality of Buddhist teaching. They are a powerful reminder of Buddhist values and principles and are revered in many cultures around the world.
