Tibetan thangka pendant - Bodhisattva Chenrezig in the so-called powa position

BODHISATTVA CHENREZIG/ Guan Yin

PRACTICE OF POWA or transfer of consciousness

A practice specific to Tibetan Vajrayana belonging to the techniques of the perfection phase (Tib. rdzogs-rim). Unlike other techniques of this type, reserved for confirmed practitioners of tantras, powa is widely taught to all.

For seven to twenty-one days, the practitioner practices transferring his conscious principle into a pure Buddha field. Once the signs of success are obtained, he is assured that at his death the transfer will be easy. Powa is present in all traditions of Tibetan Buddhism.

Although it most often has as its destination the pure field of Buddha Amitabha, it can just as easily be addressed to any other Buddha or elected deity to whom the practitioner devotes a firm conscience.

Handcrafted and traditional hand painted thangka
The tangka is painted at the Longwu Temple , also called Wutun. Tibetan lamasery located in the Tibetan prefecture of Rebkong, Amdo province, called Huangnan in the Qinghai province of China and is 186 km from Xining. Renowned center of Tibetan thangka painting. Regong arts were inscribed in 2009 on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The colors of this tangka are composed of pure gold and crushed minerals , as is the tradition of true thangkas.

Finally, the bail of this Thangka pendant represents the god ganesh
The elephant god Ganesh (or Ganesha/Ganapati, also sometimes called siddhi data) is one of the most popular gods of Hinduism and is also widely represented in both Theravada Buddhist temples (India, Thailand, Indonesia...) and Vajrayana temples (Tibet, Nepal...). He plays an important role in tantrism and is present in the Tibetan pantheon where he is recognized mainly as a deity of wealth but is also part of the attributes of certain wrathful deities, somewhat frightening, terrible, secretive and feared, removing obstacles. The Japanese name for Ganesh is Shōten (聖天) or Kangiten (歓喜天), Japanese Buddhism considers him a manifestation of Shō Kannon Bosatsu (聖観音菩薩). In Japanese, the kanji 天 is used as an equivalent of the Hindu Deva.
