Rare Mammoth Ivory Phurba - Exceptional Craftsmanship
Exceptional and unique piece for collectors of tantric Buddhist cult objects.

This handcrafted Phurba, carved by a master of Buddhist art, is made of woolly mammoth ivory (Mammuthus primigenius), a species of mammoth that lived in the Siberian region during the last ice age. These mammoths became extinct about 10,000 years ago, but due to the preservation conditions in the Siberian permafrost, their tusks (or ivories) have often been preserved.

As a gemologist graduated from the National Institute of Gemmology (ING, Paris), all our materials are appraised and certified natural.

The top of this phurba represents the deity Vajrakilaya , Phurba in Tibetan
Vajrakilaya is a very wrathful deity, an emanation of the Buddha Vajrasattva, of Tibetan Buddhism, represented with one or more heads, several arms and often a dynamic posture.
Holding a vajra (diamond thunderbolt) in one hand and a phurba in the other, Vajrakilaya symbolizes the destruction of obstacles and purification.
This deity is revered for his ability to eliminate negative forces and promote spiritual growth. Vajrakilaya is associated with wrathful compassion in the tantric practice of Vajrayana.

The phurba plays an important role in Tantric Buddhism:
Purification Ritual: The phurba is used in purification rituals to remove internal and external obstacles that hinder the spiritual path, hence the expression "conquering demons" attributed to it. The blade of the phurba is symbolically planted in the ground to "pierce" and neutralize these obstacles.

Deity Summoning: This ritual dagger is also used in summoning wrathful deities, such as Vajrakilaya. This eminent ritual object is considered a powerful instrument for channeling the energy and spirit of deities into the material world.

Banishing Negative Forces: The ritual aims to banish or destroy negative forces, evil influences and disturbing energies.

Healing: Used in healing rituals, it is used to purify and balance energies, thus promoting physical and mental health.

Tantric Activities: Also associated with advanced tantra practices, it can be used in more complex meditations to realize the illusory nature of reality and to achieve enlightenment.

The phurba was introduced into Tibetan Buddhism by Phadmasambhava .
Used in rituals to drive away unwanted spirits, the Phurba acts spiritually to immobilize demonic spirits and sometimes kill them in the hope that they will reincarnate in better places. Each component of the Phurba has its own meaning.
