FOSSIL CAMP MOTHER-OF-PEARL ( Tridacna gigantea)
Unlike the current species of giant clam, Tridacna gigantea is not protected as a species. It is an extinct species.

Fossilized clam shell is a variant of mother-of-pearl that has undergone a process of fossilization over time. This material results from the transformation of clam shells or other mollusks into fossils during geological processes.

The fossilization process begins when the clam shell is buried in sediment over time. As minerals from the soil penetrate the shell, it undergoes chemical and mineralogical changes.

In jewelry, fossilized clam mother-of-pearl can be used to create cabochons, beads, and other ornaments. Cutting and shaping fossilized clam mother-of-pearl can highlight its distinctive characteristics. The rarity of fossilized clam mother-of-pearl makes it an extremely valuable material.

SYMBOLISM OF MOTHER-OF-PEARL IN BUDDHISM:
Mother-of-pearl is often used in Buddhist crafts to create ritual objects, sculptures and ornaments.

Associated with purity because of its bright color and smooth texture. In Buddhism, purity is an important concept, symbolizing the purification of the mind from impurities and attachments.

The color white is commonly associated with Vairocana Buddha, one of the Five Wisdom Buddhas in Tantric Buddhism, particularly Vajrayana Buddhism.
Vairocana is often depicted seated at the center of the five Buddha mandala, symbolizing ultimate reality and omnipresence. The color white is associated with purity, clarity, emptiness, and the transcendental nature of reality.

Buddha Vairocana is one of the major Buddhas in East Asia. He is one of the five wisdom Buddhas (the dhyani Buddhas) holding the central place on the cardinal points. In the conception of the five Tathagatas (Buddhas) of Mahayana and Vajrayana, Vairocana is at the center and is considered a Primordial Buddha or Adhi Buddha.
