You are most likely familiar with sacred fig seeds, also called pipal seeds or bodhi seeds for traditional malas.
Seeds that many uncultured traders call lotus seeds, out of complete ignorance.
But do you know about the fossilized sacred fig seeds?

These seeds come from the sacred tree Ficus religiosa, also known as the pagoda fig or Bodhi tree. This tree is particularly revered in Buddhist traditions, because it is under a fig tree of this species that Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha, is said to have attained enlightenment.

The name of the goddess Tara, to whom this bodhi seed mala is dedicated, can be translated as "she who saves".
Emanation of the bodhisattva Avalokitesvara (Chenrezi- Guan Yin), it was born from the tears of this bodhisattva.
She embodies the feminine aspect of compassion and is a very popular deity in Tibetan Buddhism.
