As Malakara, we make all of our malas ourselves, scrupulously respecting tradition.
As a gemologist graduated from the National Institute of Gemmology in Paris, all our materials are appraised and certified.

1) What is a mala?
A mala is a prayer bead traditionally used in various spiritual practices, including Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism, and other Asian religious and spiritual traditions.
It is often made of 108 beads, although some malas may have a different number of beads, sometimes a multiple of 108.
To know everything about malas, their meanings, their uses, their different variants and also a short explanation on malakaras, the creators of mala, please click on this text taking you to our dedicated and explanatory article on our blog

2) This handcrafted tiger's eye mala is made up of:
108 beads in tiger's eye/hawk's eye high quality natural from South Africa
Diameter of each pearl 8mm

The counter beads of this tiger's eye mala are also in tiger's eye natural from South Africa Dimensions of each counterpearl: 12.80mm long by 10.08mm thick

We made this tiger's eye mala with the aim of creating a Tibetan Buddhist rosary that meets tantric requirements, as well as multiple accessories, each with a very specific deep symbolism.

HAS) Melong or Tibetan Thöpa

Tibetan mirror pendants are called "Melong" or "Thöpa". These mirrors are used in spiritual and ritual practices in Tibet, especially in Tibetan Buddhism. They are usually round and made of metal, often silver-plated, and may be decorated with mystical symbols and motifs. The Melong is considered a tool for meditation and protection, representing wisdom and truth by reflecting the true nature of reality.

On the front of this traditional Tibetan pendant are depicted the Nine Heavenly Palaces, also used and called "九宫" (Jiǔ Gōng) in the feng shui tradition, these 9 heavenly palaces represent a system of cosmological correspondences that plays an essential role in harmonizing energy in a space. They are associated with specific directions and have unique attributes.

For a more in-depth detailed explanation of these 9 celestial palaces, I suggest you consult my article on this subject, on my Facebook pro page, by clicking on this link

The representation of the 9 celestial palaces is rotating thanks to a precision ball bearing system developed in Germany

On the back of this Tibetan Thöpa pendant is depicted the double dorje symbol set with a natural turquoise from Hubei province in its middle.

The Vajra, or dorje in Tibetan, occupies a primordial place in Tibetan Buddhism, symbolizing the indestructible nature of the awakened mind, often likened to the diamond. Initially associated with the diamond thunderbolt of Indra, it evokes royalty and power.

B) The phurba
Tiger's Eye Mala - Tantric Practices | obsidian dragons
In the middle of this tiger's eye mala, we have incorporated a tiger's eye phurba , held by a buffalo bone dragon.
The phurba symbolizes the destruction of negative forces and internal and external obstacles. It is used in rituals of protection, exorcism, purification and healing. The knife is often planted in the ground or in an object representing negative forces, thus symbolizing the victory of wisdom and compassion over ignorance and confusion.

Dimensions of this tiger's eye phurba: 55mm long by 15mm in diameter

We have also incorporated into this tiger's eye mala, an authentic DZI called "of heaven and earth"
Our contemporary Dzis are made according to tradition, by Tibetan artisans located at the crossroads of Yunnan, Sichuan and Tibet in the Tibetan prefecture of Gyaltran at an altitude of 4000 meters.

The "Heaven and Earth Dzi" has patterns that symbolize heaven and earth, representing harmony and balance between cosmic and earthly forces, symbolizing the balance between the forces of heaven (spiritual) and earth (material), helping to create harmony in the life of the wearer.

Dimensions of this authentic DZI: 38mm long by 11mm in diameter

D) Traditional meters

On this tiger's eye mala, we have also integrated traditional counters, specific to the practices of Vajrayana Buddhism. We created these counters with copper discs , buffalo horn and the dorje and the drilbou (the Tibetan bell) are made of buffalo bone.

These counters are used to count cycles of recitations. When you have completed a cycle of 108 mantras, you slide a bead from the counter to mark that cycle .

The dorjes represent the masculine principle, method, and action, while the bells symbolize the feminine principle, wisdom, and emptiness. Together, they signify the union of wisdom and method in Buddhist spiritual practice.

E) Finishing this tiger's eye mala

The guru bead (finishing bead) is made of buffalo bone and represents a meditating Buddha on both sides.
We have also integrated the double dorje symbol in 925 silver

Finally, this tiger's eye mala ends with a traditional Buddhist tassel.
The movement of the tassel during the recitation of mantras or prayers on a rosary is associated with the creation and circulation of spiritual energy or vibrations. The movement of the tassel creates a whirlwind of positive energy that helps to strengthen concentration, raise spiritual vibration, and amplify the effectiveness of meditation and recitation practices. It is a concept that fits into the broader perspective of the interaction between the physical, mental, and spiritual in religious and meditative practice.
